Super Visa for Parents/ Grandparents

Instead of sponsoring your parents or grandparents to become Canadians, a Super Visa allows them to visit you or your children or grandchildren for up to 5 years at a time. This multi-entry visa provides multiple entries for a period of up to 10 years.
What is a Super Visa?
The Super Visa is a special visa designed for parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens or permanent residents. It offers an excellent alternative to the Parent and Grandparent Sponsorship Program, especially when the latter has reached its annual cap on applications. The Super Visa allows for extended stays, enabling families to spend more time together without the need for frequent renewals or reapplications.
Benefits of the Super Visa:

  1. Extended Stay: Your parents or grandparents can stay in Canada for up to 5 years at a time without needing to renew their status.

  2. Multi-Entry: The Super Visa allows for multiple entries over a period of up to 10 years.

  3. Family Reunification: Spend quality time with your loved ones without the hassle of short-term visitor visas.

  4. Flexibility: Extend their stay for an additional 2 years, totaling up to 7 years in Canada.

  5. Eligibility for a Super Visa:

To be eligible for a Super Visa, the applicant must:

  1. Be a parent or grandparent of a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada.

  2. Have a signed letter from your child or grandchild inviting you to Canada.

  3. Have medical insurance from a Canadian insurance company valid for at least 1 year from the date of entry, with a minimum coverage of $100,000, and proof that the medical insurance has been paid.
